What qualifications are required to becoming a Police Community Support Officer
All the different police forces in the country require the support of Police Community Support Officers. The entry requirements are not so stiff and it doesn't matter whatever your qualification is. People from all different backgrounds join PCSO. The selection process includes reviewing your application and an interview. You must meet nationality requirements and you must pass security and reference checks.
You should be able to speak good English and must possess good personality and professional approach to handling pressure situations. You should also take responsibility of your decisions. Good reporting skills are needed and you need to have good physical fitness.
It would be advantageous if you have some qualifications at public services, like NVQ Level 2 in Public Services or foundation degree in Public Service. Having driving license is another benefit. After getting into the position of a PCSO, you get training on various topics including legislation, patrolling skills, computers, community awareness, radio procedures, etc. There will be regular training throughout your career.
