Default What do Prison Instructors do?

Prison instructors help prison inmates with learning new skills, which would help them employment after release and to help them being accepted to the mainstream. This duty is in addition to overseeing security of the prison. They provide training on variety of vocational skills like painting, electrical repair works, engineering, tailoring, etc according to the skills of the inmates and their training needs.

Prison Instructors have good knowledge and skills of training individuals according to their needs, planning training sessions, preparing teaching materials, and providing appropriate support for the inmates in gaining the skills and confidence to lead a normal life once they complete their sentence.

The prison instructors also help the trained inmates achieve qualifications like NVQs. They also report the progress. The prison instructors have experience in the trades they teach and they are enthusiastic about teaching the skills, for the betterment of the lives of the inmates and their acceptance into the society.
