Default What skills are needed to becoming a Prison Instructor

Apart from the technical skills, you will also need good people management skills and assertive communication skills. You are responsible for discipline of the inmates and for their development. You should be able to build relationships with the inmates, who can be from all different backgrounds. A prison instructor also needs to be a motivator, be able to win their confidence and manage complex situations with good judgement and understanding skills. You should be able to work outdoors and indoors. It is a demanding job and you need to be both physically and emotionally equipped to handle the demands of the job as a prison instructor.
