Default What skills are needed to become a Probation Officer?

The ability to relate to people of a range of background is the most important skill. You need good levels of spoken and written communication skills. A good understanding of law, fairness and an objective approach to situations are essential qualities. You also have a professional demeanour and should be able to remain calm under pressurizing situations. Good organisational skills, planning skills and problem solving capabilities are essential qualities. You should also be willing to help people. Good report writing skills are also needed.
