What does a Psychotherapist do?
Psychotherapist uses a variety of psychological approaches and counselling methods to ease their clients. They will talk with clients and support them to reveal their past events and experiences. Therapist will analyse emotional, behavioural or relationship problems and suggest possible changes to be made. They will asses the thoughts as well as feelings of the clients and help them in building up new strategies for better way of living. They will reduce drug applications and physical interventions in the process of relieving their clients from distress. A psychotherapist will approach clients with a core theoretical model of therapy which include psychodynamic way focussing more on the childhood experiences and dreams of the client. Behavioural approach is based on rooted beliefs and re conditioning of the thoughts where as cognitive methods try to link between negative thoughts and responses of the clients. They will aid the clients for self development and personal growth through humanistic approach. Person centred along with systemic / interpersonal approaches are also used by the therapists for betterment of their clients.
