Default What does a Receptionist do?

Receptionist/Front office Assistant is the primary contact person of any organisation like business; schools, hospitals and other co-operate sectors. He/She should provide secretarial, clerical and administrative support to the concern.

Receptionist will receive the guest, provide them correct information and guide them to the correct department or person concerned. He/She will answer phone calls, clear the quires, jot down messages and direct them to proper persons. Receptionist will manage visitor’s book and issue security passes. He/she has to organise the reading materials in waiting areas and keep the reception tidy.

A medical receptionist will be involved in organising appointments and bookings and taking payments of treatments. In small organisations receptionist will have to handle office gadgets and some clerical works too. A Receptionist will check and respond to mails, faxes along with booking of transport and travel. In certain co-operate environment a receptionist will also have to work as security officer.
