Excellent communication and listening skills is an essential quality of a Care Home Manager. People skills are needed to keep long term relationship with quite a large sum of people. They should be trustworthy people with an ability to earn others trust. Strong observational ability is required. Negotiation skill, record keeping and budget management are necessary qualities. They should be able to assess a person’s care and support needs. Strong understanding of medical conditions affecting service users is important. Sound knowledge on relevant legislation, local services and resources are needed. Care Home Manager should keep good interpersonal relationships with residents and their family members. They should also maintain good rapport with colleagues and other professionals.
