Default Qualifications Required to Becoming a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages

To become a registrar there are no minimum entry requirements. Employers expect candidates qualified GCSEs, including English and maths with good standard of general education. Candidates are anticipated to be experienced in dealing with a wide range of people. Registrar should be aware of the regulations surrounding registration law Computer literacy and driving license are needed. Experience in public speaking is an advantage. Certain professionals including doctors, midwives, ministers of religion, funeral directors are not allowed to be registrars. Anyone working in life assurance industry is also barred from being a registrar. Experienced persons in the position of clerical assistant in the registration service can make their entry as assistant registrars. Certificate of Proficiency in the Law and Practice of Registration can be attained with two years of experience. You can also under go training in customer care and handling bereavement.
