The most important skill a Store Detective must possess is good observation power. They should be able to identify suspicious movements and mannerisms of shoppers from a distance and should be able to run the surveillance without attracting attention. You should be honest and must have integrity. You have a responsible attitude towards your work and you should be able to handle sensitive issues and situations in a diplomatic manner. You should be physically fit and should be gentle and assertive. You also need to have the confidence to restrain people if found guilty of attempted shoplifts. A good understanding of surveillance systems like electronic tags, CCTV< etc are also essential.
