Default What does a Tax Inspector do?

A tax inspector working for the revenue and customs department (HMRC), making sure businesses are paying stipulated taxes. Your duty will include visiting business premises, checking files & databases, talking to managers, accountants and lawyers, conducting investigations when needed, etc. You represent HMRC at appeals tribunals. You will also be offering advice on tax and tax related matters. You will also carry out negotiations with the businesses for tax payments and settlements.

There will be a big team of administrators and caseworkers working under you. You will apply tax rules fairly and without biases.
