Default What Qualifications are needed to become a Trading Standards Officer

Trading Standards Institute (TSI) is the recruiter and hence you need a TSI accredited degree on Consumer Protection related subject. To qualify for the degree program, you will need five GCSEs including English, math and science, with at least two A levels. The entry requirements can be slightly different at different universities. Your qualification in law, retail, etc can also be helpful. You may sometimes find job openings with your qualifications in law or retail management. You will gain your consumer protection degree while still on the job.

In case you don't have a degree, the local authorities let you apply for posts like consumer adviser, which also let you work for additional qualifications. There are also continuous training programs that you can benefit from.
