Default What Skills are needed to becoming a Trading Standards Officer?

Apart from the essential qualifications, you will need to possess certain qualities like good organisational skills, ability to document procedures, and to work with computers and databases. Good observation skills, attention to detail, ability to analyse complex technical information, etc are needed. You will work alone or with a team. You will be tactful and assertive. Good judgement and assertive communications are must-have skills. Sometimes you may be required to work during unsocial hours, in case you are visiting bars or pubs. You need driving license as extensive travelling is the order of the day.
