What Does a Typist Do?
Typists work at government and private offices, entering data to paper or computers for filing purposes. The work and life of typists have changed over the century and the latest trend is computer typing and data entry operations. Unlike in the past, typists don't have to deal with typewriters. They can type on computer keyboard, make edits as necessary and take print outs as needed.
They always have a sensitive job, as they are always preparing important documents, drafting letters and more. They take inputs from managers and take data from printed copies and audio tapes. In larger organisations and government offices, the job is usually limited to typing documents. However, in smaller companies, your job can also involve answering telephone calls, handling email & fax, and handling administrative tasks like working with computer databases.
It is a sensitive job, as even minor spelling mistakes can prove disastrous.
